The Basque Government has initially approved the Territorial Sector Plan for Renewable Energies

After its publication this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country, a new public information period opens with a period of 45 working days for allegations to be made.

The Official Gazette of the Basque Country has published this Wednesday the initial approval of the Territorial Sector Plan for Renewable Energies (PTS) in Euskadi. This is a plan drawn up by the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government with the aim of having a planning tool that defines a renewables mapincluding wind power and photovoltaics.

The PTS establishes 110 susceptible sites to install wind or photovoltaic parks in 92 locations. Specifically, it contemplates 42 in Álava, 49 in Bizkaia and 19 in Gipuzkoa.

Regarding the plants wind It sets 19 possible locations in Álava, 26 in Bizkaia and 12 in Gipuzkoa.

Regarding the facilities photovoltaicindicates 23 possible locations in both Álava and Bizkaia and 7 in Gipuzkoa.

The department headed by the counselor Arantxa Tapia has reported in a note that the main purpose of the Renewable Energies Territorial Sector Plan (PTS) is to become one of the basic tools that allow energy sustainability to be achieved in the Basque Country. “It will help the Basque Country to have the renewable energy facilities necessary to carry out the energy transition that culminates in the decarbonisation of the economy”, he added.

According to the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment note, one of the foundations of the text is the commitment to the self-consumption and the energy communities“two key aspects to improve the share of renewable energy in final energy consumption”.

The share of renewable energy over final consumption, including imported electricity, is 16.6%, while without it the figure stands at 10%, and the 2030 targets foresee reaching 21%.

Following the publication of the Renewable Energy Sector Territorial Plan (PTS) this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country, a new public information period opens with a period of 45 working days so that claims can be made.

The objective of the Basque Government is to definitively approve the Territorial Sector Plan before the end of this legislature, which ends in the summer of next year.
