Two arrested for bringing 16 cars stolen in Europe to Portugal

Two men, aged 33 and 38, were arrested by the PSP Criminal Investigation Directorate (DIC/PSP) for bringing 16 stolen vehicles into the country from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and France. The vehicles were forged for later resale.

In May 2022, vehicles reported stolen in Europe began to be found. “Cooperation with the Dutch and Belgian police helped to identify the suspects,” he said. cm Suptendant Filipe Silva of DIC/PSP. “The elderly suspect spent a lot of time in the Netherlands and received stolen vehicles to be transported to Portugal,” he explained.

In our country, each vehicle has already had its identification number changed, and then new documents have been forged. “We confiscated 4 cars at customs to be sent to Africa, and the rest were sold here,” said Filipe Silva. Arrests and confiscation of 16 stolen and damaged cars were made on Tuesday. Suspected of forgery, criminal association and reception, the two men know this Thursday about enforcement measures.
