The Basque Parliament has urged the Basque Government to extend during the year 2023 the discounts of 50% in public transport from which the Basque citizens benefit. Said aid will be evaluated after 6 months and it will be analyzed whether or not the conditions that motivated it exist.
Despite the fact that the PNV was in doubt, the amendment proposed by Elkarrekin Podemos has finally received the support of all parties.
Inigo Martinezfrom Elkarrekin Podemos, stressed that “in the Basque Country we have sufficient political and financial capacity to be able to maintain these discounts to help our families and promote public transport”.
Martinez has stressed the importance of strong public transportation. In this sense, he recalled that this measure has had a direct impact on people’s pockets and has also had a good impact on traffic, as well as on the use of public transport.
Irune Berasaluzefrom the PNV has shown its support for the amendment, but has recalled that 30% of this aid corresponds to the Government of Spain, and that now the Basque institutions are being asked to take charge of 50%, they have to pay in in full to our institutions.
In this sense, he has demanded that Podemos and the PSOE find the way from Madrid. “We are in favor of fulfilling the commitment, and that was to maintain today, that is, put 20%. We hope that from Madrid it can be done,” she pointed out.
