Who quit Bake Off? What happened in week 4, who won Star Baker and GBBO, full results

A day later, Bake Off is back with chocolate on its kitchen puzzle menu this week.

After a short break from TV programming due to football, the highlights returned to our screens on Wednesday night at 8pm on Channel 4.

The show was delayed by 24 hours as Channel 4 broadcast England’s crucial Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy at Wembley Stadium live.

But with England safely through, thoughts turned again to whoever could caramelize, glaze and sift well enough to stay in the region for another week. Great British Bake Off.

What happened in week 4?

The nine remaining participants faced the challenge of eating chocolate in very hot weather in week four.

First, they were asked to bake a chocolate cake without wheat flour for their signature casserole.

They then had to bake caramelized white chocolate cheesecakes in the technical round, as decided by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

And the highlight was the edible chocolate cake.

Tash disappeared from the showstoppers section as she felt unwell and had to go home.

At the end of the episode, host Alison Hammond delivered a welcome message: “You’re all staying.”

But it was bittersweet because as the bakers dusted themselves off, she added: “However, two bakers will be leaving the store next week.”

Who won Star Baker?

While no one was sent home this week, there was one star baker.

Matty left chocolate week happy with the knowledge that he was a star baker, which certainly gave the PE and science teacher a boost.

The latest series returned to our screens at the end of September with 12 freshly baked bakers and new presenter Alison Hammond taking over from Matt Lucas.

At this point, three bakers have left the tent.

Amos quit in week one, Kate followed him in week two and last week Abbie, from Cumbria, became the third contestant to be told she had to leave.

The 27-year-old was optimistic about the result and said: “It’s okay, I knew it would be like this. And guess what? I’m really proud of myself. I never thought I could do this. It gave me a huge boost of confidence and I met such great people.”
