Hocus pocus 2, the return of the Sanderson sisters, is coming to Disney+ these days and promises an all-star Disney family horror experience. And these same stars, from Bette Midler to Sarah Jessica Parker and from Cathy Najimy to Doug Jones, director and producer, sat down and took time for a Q&A session. We have reserved a seat and report what the gentlemen have said about the film, the set and its characters.
Bette, we’ll start with you. Finally the day has come and you can Hocus pocus 2 present to the fans.

Finally! The dream has come true, the phenomenon continues. I never thought that the sequel would generate such interest, but the fans are just incredible. I love this series!
Katie, this is a classic, right?

… different from my performance… (laughs out loud) You make films and it’s always a little unclear how they’ll be received. But here it is like a family business. The children of that time take their children with them today and experience this story together as a family. That’s wonderful.
Adam, as the captain of this ship, how were the musical numbers?

We had a lot of songs to choose from and we had to limit ourselves to the ones that also fit the story. The story is still the most important. But who wouldn’t want to hear Bette Midler sing… We have some great songs in the movie.
Adam, why was filming easy?
Adam Shankman (producer)
The actors have known each other all their lives, I have known them all for many years. I met Bette on set Hocus pocus you know when witches flew through the air on wires. It was so magical and when they asked me Hocus pocus 2 Of course, if I wanted to participate, I immediately agreed. Not as a director, but as a producer. I met a lot of people I haven’t seen in a long time. It was very special and wonderful.
Doug, your Billy is back! Why is he so popular with fans?

Well, I was a zombie before zombies were cool. I don’t eat brains… Billy just wants to be left alone, he’s very clumsy and funny. He also wears a wonderful suit. Until I became Billy, I had to paint for two hours every day. But it was worth it.
Belissa, you’ve been in other scary shows, do you like those kind of movies?

I’ve always loved these spooky Halloween stories. Creepy, but funny at the same time. A great way to honor and celebrate this holiday.
Liliana, you have your breakthrough role here. What were your experiences?
Lily Buckingham Cassie
I had no experience, but I had a job! I finally got a great role in a cool movie that had legends and stars. I made best friends there and I am very grateful for that. But I had to regularly receive excuses from the school in order to at least get to the shooting.
Whitney, you had an interesting audition, didn’t you?
Whitney Peak (Becca)
Yes, I had to improvise and scream at the same time. I really couldn’t do it, but when they told me to scream like I was getting a job, I did it.
Adam Shankman (producer)
It was clear long before we told the girls. Ann (the director) knew in advance that these three girls were perfect for these roles. And she was right.
Sam, you and Cathy know each other from previous films. How was the reunion?
Sam RichardsonGilbert
It was great, of course, and made shooting much easier. I am a fan of the original and have set myself the goal of participating in a possible sequel. And when I watch the movie now, I see it through the eyes of a fan.
Ann Fletcher (director)
Sam was great for his role. We haven’t talked to each other for a long time and only met on the set. The chemistry was instantaneous and we both love this movie. It was great with him.
Bette and Cathy, what does this sisterhood mean to you, which is so beautifully presented in the film?
Bette Midler (Winnifred Sanderson)
We have talked a lot about this topic. Relying on each other, standing up for each other, that’s so important. Especially for women, because they continue to play a complex role in society. So this connection that the sisters show in the film is not only beautiful, but also important.
Cathy Najimy Mary Sanderson
Characters don’t hesitate, they “do”. They stand up for each other, complement and support each other. It’s also important outside of the film. Women can make quick decisions if you let them!
