In his new film, Elias M’Barek plays a reporter who uncovers Germany’s biggest media scandal. We briefly monopolized the star on a few questions.
Since movies like Fak you Goethe or Turkish for beginners Elias M’Barek is known as a movie star and a successful actor. His latest film is called thousand lines and we are talking about a real scandal in the media, which plunges the country into turmoil. In an interview, he told us how he feels about the media in general and why he cannot decide on his film hairstyle.
First of all, congratulations on a great movie. thousand lines. Do you feel more comfortable in such “serious” productions than in comedies? What attracted you to this role?
Well, I didn’t just do comedies. But the work, of course, is the same, and as long as the role is exciting and interesting, I don’t care if it’s a comedy or a “more serious” film. I like real characters and thousand lines it is given.
how many times do you thousand lines visible? Is it possible to watch your films at all?
I’ve seen it twice and I still think it’s great. But it’s hard to watch your own films. Usually, once is enough for me. that’s all. You also have a different approach, you are biased, you know the background of the scene, and this takes the pressure off.

Do you generally have a good relationship with the media? What annoys you?
Oh, the relationship is good and calm. I like you. These interviews and press work are part of the job. I’m glad you’re here and reporting on my films. In addition, I am also a consumer and inform myself.
Excuse me, I have to ask: was your character’s hairstyle your idea?
It was never the actor’s idea. in thousand lines so decided the person making the mask. It was out of my control, but of course that’s okay too. There is no vanity.
When will we see Elias M’Barek as an unsympathetic villain on screen?
Well, I haven’t always played likable characters, but you probably haven’t seen them. I’m just more interested in, for example, playing a hero who isn’t really a hero, like in thousand lines. But villains as such, you can find them in Alert for Cobra 11, I don’t worry about that.

Please tell us spontaneously what comes to mind when you think of the top three films in the current Swiss film charts: Minions: The Rise of Gru
They are cool and funny.
“High-speed train”
It’s the one with Brad Pitt, right? Apparently, he did it out of a favor to the director. It shouldn’t be good.
“Top Gun: Maverick”
I still want to see it! But I like the ones mentioned thousand lines this is the best…
Do you have time to go to the cinema?
Well, I’ve just been a bit busy and I’m still working with the press here, but in general I like to go to the movies and often. No problem.
thousand lines will be shown in cinemas in German-speaking Switzerland from September 29, 2022.
