Netflix has announced plans to release Glass Bow: Knives Out in theaters. But moviegoers in Switzerland could look through the chimney.
Before the corona virus closed the doors of cinemas at the beginning of 2020, many film lovers in Switzerland started the year of cinema. Get the knives. A very entertaining detective story by Rian Johnson started in Germany on January 2, 2020 and made the masses laugh – the best advertisement for a joint movie screening.
As we can confirm, just like the sequel, Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives, unstoppable fun. One that is best viewed in a large cinema hall. There’s just one small problem: after the huge success of the first film (over $311 million worldwide), Netflix secured the rights to two sequels for $450 million. So you can only see them on the small screen at home?
Netflix gave the go-ahead in January 2022: they are planning a theatrical release of The Glass Bow. Exactly how it would look like was kept a secret for a long time. Now, Netflix has announced a publishing strategy that still baffles Swiss moviegoers.
So it will be Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives can only be seen in theaters for one week from November 23 to November 29, 2022, and then disappear again. The film will then release on Netflix on December 23, 2022.
“Okay, that’s better than nothing,” some of you might be thinking. But in Switzerland, this “nothing” does not threaten us. According to a press release, Netflix plans this week-long theatrical release to select theaters in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Israel only. At the moment, Switzerland is not included. We keep our fingers crossed that things will change in the coming weeks. Because in this country, too, many cinemas would surely burst into tears for a film whose first part brought so much joy; and therefore urgently needed sales.
If anything changes in the theatrical release status, we will let you know.
