On October 29, 2022, the cinema group will open its newest multiplex in the main city of Graubünden, which has eight screens including IMAX and 4DX screens.
Over the past three years, a new cinema temple has been built in the City West district of Chur. Now the building is ready and will finally open its doors on Saturday, October 29, 2022. In addition to eight cinemas, the blue Cinema Chur also offers a wide range of entertainment such as a sports bar where you can watch the Champions League, among others, as well as several catering options such as the Hans im Glück burger restaurant. . However, these things were not the focus of our visit two days before the official opening. We’re here for big screens and fat sound, and Blue Cinema didn’t skimp on that.
The IMAX hall is especially impressive. With a screen size of 20.39 m x 10.75 m, we could literally enter the water worlds in the trailer Avatar: Path of Water while the cinema chain then, of course, insisted on demonstrating the power of the sound boxes with the well-known IMAX advertisement. To make everything work perfectly, cables were laid, which, according to the presentation, will be stretched from Cura to Lugano.

In addition to the IMAX hall, which can accommodate 328 visitors, the blue cinema “Chur” also offers a 4DX hall and the so-called “First Suite”. There are eleven double leather chaise longues that are reminiscent of the cinema bed in Pathé Spreitbach. The sun loungers can be adjusted at the push of a button and can also be heated.
The group plans not only cinema in the halls, but also on the roof. From spring 2023, the Rooftop Cinema will host open-air cinemas with a direct view of the mountains.

To celebrate the opening of the new multiplex, Blue Cinemas invites you to a big day of adventure on October 29th with wheel of fortune, balloon performers, a light show and more. If you prefer the action to take place on the big screen, you can of course watch the movie – and that too at a discounted price. For the entire opening week from October 29 to November 4, a ticket to regular halls costs only 5 francs. Exceptions are First Suite and First Lounge. A ticket here costs 15 francs, but consumption is optional.
