Grumpy widower Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks) is very attached to his habits. When a busy young family moves in next door, Otto meets an equal rival in the quick-witted and pregnant Marisol (Mariana Trevino). This meeting leads to an unexpected friendship that turns his world upside down.

A man named Otto is an American adaptation of the 2012 bestseller The Man Called Uwe by Swedish Fredrik Backman, which was made into a highly successful film in 2015. swedish film En man so heter Ove with Rolf Lassgard grossed over $30 million worldwide and was nominated for two Oscars (Best Foreign Language Film and Makeup).

Swiss director Mark Forster is now in charge of the American version, and with Tom Hanks, he was able to win a real top class star for the title role. A man named Otto will open in theaters in Switzerland and Germany on January 26, 2023.
