the ukrainian choir Sophia Chamber Choir It has won the main prizes of the 53rd edition of the Choral Contest of Tolosa. The kyiv group, led by alexey shamritskyhas won the first prize in the polyphony and folklore modalities for chamber choirs, the audience award and the kutxa Grand Prize, which gives it the chance to be among the nominees for the Grand European Prize for Choral Singing that will take place in Debrecen (Hungary) in 2023.
The contest started last Friday at the Leidor Theater and today the names of the winners have been announced. The jury, chaired by Xabier Sarasola, was made up of experts Petra Grassi (Italy), Martina Batic (Slovenia), Cesar Alejandro Carrillo (Venezuela), Joan Sramek (AEB), Mats Nilsson (Sweden) and Shin-Hwa Park (South Korea).

– Basque Government Award for the best interpretation of a Basque work: ELLERHEIN GIRLS’ CHOIR (Estonia), for her interpretation of “Errota”
– Children’s choirs:
First Prize: RIGA CATHEDRAL GIRLS’ CHOIR TIARA (Latvia)
Second Prize: ADOLF FREDRIK’S GIRLS’ CHOIR (Sweden)
Third prize: VEUS – COR CHILDREN AMICS DE LA UNIÓ (Catalonia)
