Euskaraz irakurri: Gipuzkoako urrezko dominates Elkar Taldearentzat
Gipuzkoa has decided to award this year’s gold medal to the Elkar Group. In a press conference, the Diputación has said that it wants to reward what has been done by Euskera and Basque culture for 50 years. According to the regional spokesperson, Eider Mendoza, “Elkar Taldea’s mission is to effectively promote the promotion and development of Euskera and Basque culture, putting the company and the economy at its service”. They have advanced that they will give the prize in December.
Elkar was born in 1972 and in 1974 it took the name of Grupo Elkar. Since then, he has opted for Euskera and Basque culture. In addition, Mendoza has declared that Elkar is beneficial for the economy of Gipuzkoa, and that, in case of having profits, instead of distributing them, they reinvest them in other projects.
This award has been given since 1982, and among others, the Orfeón Donostiarra, Euskaltzaindia, Mikel Laboa and Ramon Saizarbitoria have been awarded.
