Euskaraz irakurri: Garry Winogranden argazkiak San Telmo museoan, “Women are Beautiful” erakusketan

From this Saturday until January 29, the San Telmo Museum in San Sebastián hosts the exhibition ‘Women are Beautiful’ with a selection of 85 snapshots of women by the American photographer Garry Winogrand (New York, 1928-1984) that belong to the collection staff of the San Sebastian curator and critic Lola Garrido.

Garrido stressed that “it’s exciting” to come to San Sebastian with Garry Winogrand, and recalled that he bought this series at auction in Los Angeles in 1994, “when he began to do more serious collecting.” “I admired Winogrand a lot and went for it,” he said.

In ‘Women are beautiful’ the social transformation of women in the 60s and 70s is shown from the perspective of a man. Garrido has recalled that this exhibition was branded as macho in his day and has recognized that “possibly” it is.
