The “time to act with conversations” begins in Basque

In Euskal Herria, the “time to act with conversations” in Basque has already begun, which will last until December 2.

On Thursday afternoon, in various capitals of the Basque Country, the unmistakable ahobizi and belarriprest badges appeared on lapels and coats, the emblems that everyone can choose to establish their role in this new edition of the great social initiative to promote the use of Basque.

Baiona, Bilbao, Donostia-San Sebastián, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Pamplona hosted various events to thus give the starting signal to a new edition of Euskaraldia. In the five capitals, jointly, the belarriprest or ahobizi plate was placed. There was no lack of desire, illusion, emotion, and of course the festive atmosphere.

The Euskaraldia initiative reaches its third edition this year and will encourage citizens to opt for the use of Basque, but it is also intended to attract associations, entities and all kinds of spaces to serve as an arigune for the use of Euskera.

After thousands of entities created ariguneak in the midst of a pandemic, this year the goal is create new spaces for Basque and increase the ariguneak. Thus, the proposal has been transferred, once again, to companies, institutions, associations, foundations, clubs, groups and organized entities of all kinds.

The arigunes are vital niches for Basque, because in that same space there is always someone who can communicate in Basque.

They want to increase the presence of arigunes in this third edition, but also the presence on the street, since the previous edition, held in the fall of 2020, was totally affected by the pandemic.
