Anyone with even the slightest familiarity with the world of horror films cannot ignore James Wan and Jason Blum over the past 15 years. Australian Wan has famous franchises such as Saw, insider as well as spell Create. Meanwhile American Bloom was after the success paranormal activity-Row to to major horror film producers whose production company Blumhouse has become a well-known brand over the years and films such as Cleaning, Ouija, Get out, split, happy death day as good as halloweentrilogy became possible. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blume and Wang want to work more closely in the future.

Although these two are already insiderseries together, but they want to do other projects together in the future. This has not always been easy to do in recent years, as Wan had a production contract with Warner Bros. while most of Blumhouse’s films were at Universal’s house. Because the duration of Wang’s contract with Warner Bros. expired in the spring of 2022, and the studio took no steps to renew it, a move to Universal could now occur.

The plan is for Wang to take his production company, Atomic Monster, to Universal, where they would form a new horror super-forge with Blumhouse and Universal. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster must remain autonomous. For Universal, this would increase the number of horror films it would release each year. As Bloom calculated, “Normally we release no more than three or four films a year, and I hope that with James we can double that to six or eight films.”

For Universal, this deal would be a real find. Aside from comic book adaptations, horror films are among those works that continue to do well at the box office. This is especially true because horror films can be produced relatively cheaply.

Universal, Wang and Blum hope to close the deal in early 2023.
