Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam, England’s deputy chief medical officer during the pandemic, makes his statement on the Covid-19 investigation this afternoon.
Sir Jonathan has spoken about the impact of working on the Covid team on his family life and described how he received threats that they would have their “throats cut” at the height of the pandemic.
His testimony came after chief medical officer Sir Chris Whitty said pursuing a herd immunity policy in March 2020 was a “ridiculous goal” and “very dangerous”.
