Thousands of nurses across England are on strike over pay, while around 1,000 ambulance workers in Wales have also left.
Next month, on the same day, there will be more paramedics and nurses strikes in England and Wales, making it the largest NHS strike in these disputes.

When do nurses and paramedics go on strike?
On the same day, 6 February, unions representing nurses will go on strike in England and Wales.

Members of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) resigned in December and are on strike yesterday and today.
The action is being taken to ensure the safety of patients, which means that some nurses will continue to work at all times.
RCN boss Pat Cullen, who joined the picket in London on Thursday, said: “I want to be at the negotiating table. Let’s sit down, I will prepare my cabin for the medical staff, and you [the Government] there will be a chance and let’s come to an agreement, but this agreement should be around 2022/23 and resolve the dispute for these brilliant people.
She said nurses were “deeply disappointed” after Health Secretary Steve Barclay ruled out a 10 percent compromise.
Referring to the February 6 joint action, Leveling Up secretary Mr Gove said the government prefers “no strikes at all, and we prefer that there be no such coordinated strikes.”
He told Sky News: “What we can’t do is make sure to meet every public sector demand for a pay rise because we don’t want to be in a position where public finances are out of control altogether.”

Scottish unions RCN and GMB have suspended the strike due to negotiations over a wage offer for 2023.
Rescuers:
Unite participants in Welsh Ambulance Service 24 hours are striking 19 and 23 January.
ambulance staff inside England also note January 23. Unison members are on duty 24 hours a day in London, Yorkshire, the North West, North East and South West. Unite members strike for 24 hours Northwest, Northeast and East Midlands and 12 hours in the West Midlands.
GMB National Secretary Rachel Harrison said: “The ambulance staff are furious. Our message to the government is clear: speak and pay now.”
