Fernando Medina and Duarte Cordeiro are under investigation by the Ministry of Public Affairs as part of several investigations related to Operação Tutti Frutti and related to the regime’s alleged agreement between the PS and the PSD – the so-called central bloc. Medina is suspected of supporting Benfica with the transfer of confidential information and son Luis Filipe Vieira, TVI reported on Tuesday. The former Benfica president has driven a wedge in the former mayor of Lisbon to unlock the IMI exemption for his son’s building. There are dozens of wiretaps from third parties that compromise the Minister of Finance. Only on emails seized from Medina in 2018, the investigation opened two new investigations. According to the investigation, Medina entered into a secret agreement with SDP officials six months before the 2017 elections. The MP speaks of “issuing false invoices and contracts with PS officials to conclude government contracts with companies that violate the transparency and proper management of public funds.” Corruption is one of the crimes under consideration.
But there are other suspicions related to the Minister of Finance, such as providing financial support to Belenenses Rugby and using an adviser paid by the council (5 thousand euros per month) to prepare Medina’s comments on TVI and the chronicle of opinions on cm.
