The Department of Education (ME) has announced that it will require minimum services to be set for teacher strikes during national exams.
“The DOE has become aware of the intention to go on strike for teachers over final exams and grades. The DOE will require the introduction of minimum services. This decision aims to guarantee the interest of students and families, in particular with regard to the assessment cycle should have. Added to this is the need to guarantee access to higher education,” ME said in a statement sent to newsrooms in response to the strike announcement made this Wednesday by the union platform. The first stage of the exams starts on June 19, and about 145,000 students take part in it.
The government will also demand minimal services in connection with the strike at the assessment meetings in schools. “The right to assessment and the completion of assessment processes are critical to enrollment and enrollment in the next academic year, providing, in particular, students who complete cycles and change schools or paths, times and conditions for their choice, peace of mind in schools. to prepare for the next school year without the need for successive convening of assessment meetings,” says the DOE. Evaluation meetings begin on the 9th.
The Union of All Educational Professionals (STOP) has also gone on strike over national exams, and the arbitral tribunal has already decided that minimum services will only be provided for Year 12 exams.
In a statement, ME recalls “the advances made in recent months that have led to very important decisions for teachers”, namely “the introduction of a salary scale for salaried teachers, a career change for thousands of teachers who will join them this year, and an acceleration device freezing mitigation quarries.
The guardianship ensures that these measures “include an investment of around 300 million euros in improving teaching careers”, arguing that trade unions must “recognize that students and families deserve the stability and peace that everyone is looking for at the end of this school year” . As for the unions, the approved measures are not enough, as they do not return a single day of the six and a half years of frozen service.
