The Prime Minister congratulated the Portuguese national team on reaching eighth place

Prime Minister António Costa congratulated the Portugal men’s football team on Monday, which reached the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after beating Uruguay 2-0.

In a message of “congratulations” to the selection, which this Monday defeated the Uruguayans in the second game of Group H and guaranteed qualification to the next stage, Costa called it “a great game”.

“An honorable achievement that guaranteed a place in the next stage of this World Cup. We were all delighted with this win at the preselection,” he wrote in a post on his official Twitter account.

After defeating Ghana (3:2) in the first round, Portugal won this Monday in Lusail Uruguay (2:0) thanks to a brace by Bruno Fernandes (54 and 90+3 minutes, second penalty). , ensuring their presence in the 1/8 finals of the competition.
