Stop Listening to the Director General of the National Security Administration in the PVP Commission of Inquiry

Chega wants to hear Director General of the National Security Directorate Antonio Gameiro Marques before a parliamentary commission of inquiry into TAP, given that doubts remain about the information contained in the computer of the former Deputy Infrastructure Ministry, Frederico Pinheiro.

“The reasons that emphasize the need to call Dr. António Gameiro Marques to the parliamentary commission to investigate the political tutelage of the TAP leadership are several: they concern the form and criteria by which the computer documents in question were or were not classified, who allowed or not the same classification, and whether the powers of the National Security Administration were usurped by other services,” Chega justified in a statement.

For the André Ventura-led party, these doubts arise “after the hearings held as part of the work” of the TAP investigation, “but also in connection with the work tested in other parliamentary committees” regarding the use of security information. Service (SIS) to restore the working computer of Frederico Pineiro.

“In order to achieve the material truth of the facts under investigation, it is considered important to hear in the commission the director general of the Security Directorate, Dr. António Gameiro Marques,” reads the text signed by Filipe deputies. Melo and Andre Ventura and turned to the chairman of the TAP commission of inquiry, the socialist Antonio Lacerda Sales.

The Directorate of National Security (GNS) “ensures the harmonization of procedures relating to the security of classified materials in relation to the services, organizations and other entities responsible for the security of classified materials, guarantees compliance with the international obligations assumed by the Portuguese state in this area. and acts as an accreditation body for individuals or entities to access and resolve such matters,” the government’s website states.

Rear Admiral António Gameiro Marquez has been Director General of the Office of National Security since September 1, 2016.

The controversy involving the intelligence services is related to the dismissal of the former Assistant Minister of Infrastructure on the night of April 26 with accusations of physical abuse in this ministry and the alleged theft of a laptop by Frederico Pinheiro, the case is being investigated, investigated by the State Ministry.

The involvement of the “secretaries” in the restoration of the computer on the same night already brought to Parliament – in addition to a few politicians – the Secretary General of the Information System of the Portuguese Republic (SIRP) Graço Miru Gomes, the director of the Security Information Service (SIS) Adelio Neiva da Cruz and the Supervisory Board of the SIRP. which is to be heard again in the Assembly of the Republic on this matter.
