According to data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment, published Saturday by the Estado de Minas newspaper, Brazilian authorities rescued 416 minors from child labor during inspections carried out between April and June across the country.
Minors between the ages of 8 and 17 have been found during inspections by Brazilian authorities in jobs such as civil engineering, liquor sales, garbage collection, plumbing, car washing and street vending in public places.
The checks were aimed at activities included in the List of the worst forms of child labor, the preliminary figures of which have already been released, the newspaper said.
The state of Mato Grosso do Sul has the most cases, with 124 rescued, followed by São Paulo, 60, and Minas Gerais, 54, with minors referred to child protection services.
“After being discovered by the tax inspector for labor, the victims were removed from activities and transferred to the child and adolescent protection network for inclusion in the state social protection and education policy,” the Estado de Minas says.
