The Working Conditions Authority (ACT) is conducting an inspection campaign this Monday at Amazing Promise in the municipality of Odemira, Beja district, to identify possible situations of illegal use of workers, the agency said.
About 20 ACT inspectors are participating in a joint action with the High Commission for Migration (ACM), the inspection services of the Social Security Institute and the National Republican Guard (GNR) on the estate, which employs about 300 people.
The estate was already inspected last year and, according to the ACT, emergency situations were identified.
The operation began at 08:40.
The operation is aimed at identifying any irregular workers as well as their working conditions, according to ACT Deputy Inspector General Cristina Rodriguez.
“We expect the largest number of irregular workers to be found in companies that subcontract and place those workers in these locations,” he said.
According to Cristina Rodriguez, this is an area where there is a lot of migrant work, and ACT is closely monitoring the situation to check on the situation of the workers.
“Most of them are low-powered migrants who are vulnerable groups in terms of work. We know that their regularization in the work environment is essential, and that is the purpose for which we are here today,” he said.
The company under review is a producer of red fruits.
