The woman died of a heart attack last Tuesday at the call center where she worked in Madrid, Spain. Colleagues at work were forced to continue serving with a dead colleague next door. The company denies the allegations.

At the other end of the room, some of the operators were still doing their job. It was at that time, according to three CGT union workers, that a colleague asked if he could return home and was ordered to continue working because what they were doing was an “important service.”
According to the newspaper, call center operators answer calls about power outages, and there are about 70 booths at the facility. Employee breaks are calculated by the minute and, according to some of them, supervisors monitor operators so that they do not slow down the pace of work.
According to the union, only a few workers on an individual basis have been ordered to continue answering the calls. There were operators who got up from their jobs and left unhealthy, others continued “by inertia”, accustomed to an automated work system in which the instinctive option is to continue answering calls.
The woman worked at the Spanish multinational call center Konecta for about 15 years and the cause of the heart attack is unknown.
In accordance with a country, a spokesman for the company denied that anyone was “forced to work next to the corpse.” He adds that the company is focused on helping the relatives of the deceased, “suffering because of the noise in the media.”
