Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro this Saturday dismissed any attempt to interfere with the RTP’s editorial line, stressing that he values freedom of expression “immeasurably”.
Asked by reporters about the criticism he received from the opposition over a phone call to RTP chairman about Cristina Sampaio’s animated “cartoon” called Carreira de Tiro, José Luis Carneiro said that his goal was simply to “give the word of reassurance” to the forces security.
“Of course, this is an institutional contact for understanding the framework, because both the police and the National Republican Guard had a lot of anxiety because they did not understand the framework,” he said.
