An official Chega source denied this Friday that Aníbal Pinto was the party’s candidate for the presidency of the Porto City Council. This afternoon, the sportscaster and lawyer announced his participation in the municipal race in Porto.
“The invitation of municipal candidates is always sent by the District Political Commission with the approval of the National Directorate of the party, which clearly did not happen in this case,” the party says in an explanation sent to morning Post.
However, the Lusa news agency reported that the former president of the municipality of Matosinhos do Chega, Israel Pontes, is filing the candidacy of the district of Porto from the party of Andre Ventura this Friday.
The intention will be to restore militancy in the area by presenting Anibal Pinto as a future candidate for the Chamber of Porto.
