The Secretary General of the PKP said this Friday that farmers are not sowing because of lack of water, but because of the government’s failure to provide clear support and fair prices for products.
Paulo Raimundo, speaking with the militants at the PKP pavilion in Feira de Agosto de Grandola, Setúbal district, referred to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) regarding the grain harvest.
According to INE, the grain harvest was the worst ever for any species, in a crop year again marked by drought that affected 96.9% of the continent.
The communist leader noted that the drought was actually a problem in itself, “but the truth is that the crop area was indeed one of the smallest ever.”
“Farmers did not sow, and this was not due to the drought, but rather due to the very high costs of producing fuel, fertilizers, pesticides, but rather due to the failure of the government to define clear support and fair prices. for production,” said Paulo Raimundo.
