Prime Minister António Costa said this Saturday that Portugal “always speaks with one voice” on foreign policy, dismissing differences and declined to comment on the president’s veto on the housing package.
“As you know, I have a rule – and I like to follow it – when we are abroad, we don’t talk about domestic politics, and when we talk about foreign policy, Portugal always speaks with one voice,” António said. Costa will arrive in Sao Tome and Principe, where on Sunday she will take part in the summit of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
“When the President of the Republic speaks, when the Prime Minister speaks, when the President of the Assembly of the Republic speaks, when the Minister of Foreign Affairs speaks, we speak with one voice, so there are no disagreements,” he stressed, without specifying what he was talking about.
Upon his arrival in Sao Tome, the Prime Minister was asked if he had already spoken to the President of the Republic after he had vetoed the housing changes and the national news controversy.
