During his official visit to Canada, which will last until Sunday, the President of the Republic devoted much of the program to getting to know the Portuguese expatriate communities.
However, while visiting the Montreal area on Friday, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza made a remark about the clothing of a young woman who was accompanied by her mother, drawing much criticism on social media.
The scene, filmed by RTP on the street in a park in Portugal, shows the moment when Marcelo begins a conversation with two women: “The daughter is more beautiful than the mother,” he begins with the words.
“And we are two Marys,” answers the eldest. To which the president adds: “But my daughter still has the flu, have you carefully examined her cleavage?”
This comment made the video of the moment go viral on the internet.
