GNR car stolen in Portalegre

The man stole a GNR patrol car at 11pm on Friday evening after gardaí were called to a house in Alter do C’an, Portalegre, following reports of aggression.

When two GNR patrols arrived at the scene, they came across a “visibly changed” man who was threatening to blow up two gas cylinders. When the man noticed the police presence, he threatened them with a knife and glass. After this, “the suspect managed to get into the security car and disappeared,” PNR reports.

Early on Saturday morning, the suspect was arrested in Vila Nova da Barquinha. He required medical attention because he had injuries not related to the intervention of the PNR.

The detainee, who has a criminal record, will appear in the Tomar court this Saturday.

An investigation process has also been initiated to more accurately establish the facts.
