The Gala of the Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC), scheduled for the 28th, aims to showcase a sport that was dormant in the city until 2017 and in which around 80 athletes currently participate.
“The ultimate goal of the gala is to promote the sport and at the same time have a party that is not just about the sport because our goal is to bring awareness to figure skating and bring the sport together as a blend of art, music and sport. “, he told Lusa agency coordinator Claudia Martins.
The event, which will take place at the Jorge Anginho Pavilion in the city of Coimbra, will welcome as special guests the brothers Ana and Pedro Valgode, who took second place in the world of figure skating in 2019.
According to Claudia Martins, the initiative also involves 12 invited clubs from Coimbra and the districts of Guarda and Leiria, including nearby municipalities such as Cantanhede and Mira.
“These are clubs that already have some traditions in figure skating, with more experience than our section, and which also do us honor with their participation in order to make this spectacle richer and more attractive not only for fans of this discipline, but also for themselves athletes. to the general public,” he emphasized.
The AAC’s 80-athlete figure skating section, which includes roller hockey and figure skating, employs 25 pre-competition professionals.
