The National Union of Nurses (SNE) this Monday launched an overtime strike on the Portuguese mainland until November 25, with which it wants the government to correct the “stagnation of wages” of professionals.
A statement from the trade union organization indicates that “the current struggle of nurses is aimed at forcing the Government of the Republic, as did the governments of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and Madeira, to correct the wage inversion resulting from the law adopted in 2022.” on accounting for years of professional practice.”
According to the union, this is “an injustice compounded by the impact on the amount paid for overtime.”

The SNE strike from November 3 to December 31 will be joined by a strike by the Democratic Union of Nurses of Portugal (Sindepor), which has already announced an end to overtime, demanding the immediate start of negotiations with the guardianship authorities over a quarry that corrects inequality.
