The resolution “Policies and Programs Concerning Youth”, presented by Cape Verde, Portugal and Kazakhstan, was adopted this Thursday by consensus in the Third Committee of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
According to the Portuguese mission to the UN, the resolution was also supported by 80 member states.
According to the Cape Verde mission, the project focuses on the role of youth in the fight against climate change, the need to combat youth crime and youth radicalization to violence, combating gender stereotypes, quality education, mental health of young people, etc.
The text also emphasizes the importance of inclusive and quality education, vocational training and education, and social inclusion of young people.
The resolution also includes a clause that calls on member states to take action, in accordance with international law, to remove obstacles to the enjoyment of the rights of young people living under foreign occupation, colonial rule and other conflict zones or post-conflict situations. to contribute to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
