The mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, mourned this Wednesday the death of the director and actor Carlos Aviles, founder of the Experimental Theater of Cascais, and declared Thursday a day of municipal mourning.
In a note published on his social networks, the mayor emphasized that it is “with deep sadness” that he says goodbye “to a friend and man of culture” who left “an extraordinary legacy” and nurtured “so many talents.”
Carlos Carreiras also said he would declare Thursday a day of municipal mourning.
“I am sure that my regret is shared by all elected officials and municipal employees, especially those involved in cultural affairs,” he emphasized, emphasizing that “the intelligence and sensitivity that distinguished the talent of an exceptional theater worker was generously distributed by him, whether in the context of their professional activities or in their personal relationships.”
The director and actor died early this Wednesday morning in the Cascais hospital, where he was admitted on Tuesday feeling unwell.
Carlos Vitor Machado, better known as Carlos Aviles, was born in 1935 and made his debut as an actor in 1956 in Companhia Amélia Rey Colaço – Robles Monteiro, where he remained until 1963.
