The National Republican Guard arrested a 38-year-old man for a crime of domestic violence and confiscated his weapon in the municipality of Mirandela, the GNR announced this Thursday in a statement.
The victim is a 40-year-old woman, a companion of the detainee, who explained to the PPR in the same statement that she was subjected to physical and psychological violence.
While executing a search warrant at the suspect’s home, troopers seized a shotgun, two butterfly knives, brass knuckles, a dagger, an air pistol and four rounds of ammunition.
The facts have been sent to the Braganza court, where the accused will have to learn about possible coercive measures.
GNR reminds us that domestic violence is a public crime and that “reporting it is a collective responsibility.” Communications may be made by telephone or through electronic channels established for this purpose.
