The Independent Union of Posts, Telecommunications, Transport and Express of Portugal announced this Wednesday a partial general strike at the CTT company, which will take place from Thursday to December 22, due to the “unilateral decision” of the administration to denounce the Social Works Regulation.
In a conversation with Lusa, the president of the Independent Union of Postal Services, Telecommunications, Transport and Express of Portugal (SICTTEXPT), Samuel Vieira, clarified that the strike covers the first two hours of work in postal distribution centers and the last two hours. I work in the customer service department at CTT stores.
The partial general strike followed the “unilateral decision” of the company management to denounce the Social Work Regulations, increasing the monthly quota and contributions for medical procedures performed by beneficiaries of the health insurance plan, explained Samuel Vieira.
The plan covers about 35,000 beneficiaries, including permanent workers (including children and spouses) and retirees, the union leader said.
“At a time of great difficulty for all Portuguese workers, as a result of the exponential rise in the cost of living and the frankly positive results that CTT has recently presented, this change is completely unjustified,” he said.
Luse, the union leader, also added that this change increases the cost of living for workers.
The partial general strike will begin on Thursday and is expected to last until December 22, he said.
