The father of a newborn who was beaten by his 20-year-old mother in Barreiro has reported the woman’s attacks after receiving video of him beating his 35-day-old son.
The man, who had gone to work in France, traveled to Portugal after receiving the images. The father is already in the hospital with the child, who is not in danger, despite the presence of bruises.
As soon as he became aware of the attacks, the man sent the images to Barreiro police. Authorities intercepted the woman after they were able to confirm the information.
At the scene, authorities considered the possibility that the woman had a mental disorder, but this hypothesis was ruled out after some tests were performed.
The couple, who met in Brazil, were together for two years. The attacker was in Portugal for only 11 months.
Family members were shocked by such actions and said that they did not know the woman well, whom they had met only a few times. TO CMthey said that she is not very sociable and usually stays alone in her room.
On Monday, the detainee appeared in court and was given the most serious coercive measure – preventive detention.
The newborn remains in the hospital under medical supervision, accompanied by his father.
