Last day of the year with rain associated with the Geraldine Depression.

A cold frontal surface associated with the Geraldine Trench will bring rain to Portugal on the last day of the year, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the official statement, valid from 14:53 this Saturday until 14:53 Sunday, the depression referred to by the French Meteorological Institute “will not have an impact on the weather in Portugal.”

Despite this, “a cold frontal surface associated with the above depression will cross the continental area, leading to periods of rain on the 31st,” IPMA indicates.

This situation will “gradually change to a pattern of light and infrequent showers until the afternoon,” IPMA said, adding that winds and seas are also expected to temporarily increase.
