Former Socialist general secretary Antonio Costa will speak at the opening of the PS congress on Friday in Lisbon, while the party’s new leader Pedro Nuno Santos will speak at its closing on Saturday and Sunday.
This model, in which António Costa will take stock of the activities of the government and the PS in recent years and in which Pedro Nuno Santos will speak about the future ahead of the legislative elections on March 10, was presented by the Lusa Agency either by the team of Pedro Nuno Santos or by members of the Organizing Committee of the Congress (COC).
In the 70s, 80s and 90s, it was a tradition in PS or JS organizations for outgoing top managers to make their first speeches at congresses with a report on the performance of their duties.
