The car was found completely destroyed on the banks of the Douro River early Saturday morning after an accident on Rua das Sobreiras, between Foz do Douro and Ribeiro.
The driver may have avoided the accident, which occurred at 4:00 a.m. at the so-called Anjou turnoff to Lordelo do Ouro. The alarm reached the Maritime authorities, who just found the car.
The vehicle skidded around a bend, flew onto the sidewalk, flew between two trees and stopped on the river bank.
The lost car is a recent Audi worth over one hundred thousand euros. The vehicle was moved onto the ramp to the river.
In addition to the Maritime Authorities, Porto Sapadores firefighters, PSP and municipal police were present at the scene. Authorities are trying to investigate the incident and locate the owner of the car.
