President Chegi promised on Tuesday to present a macroeconomic framework “in the next few days” to explain how he intends to fund his proposals, admitting that the money is “not multiplying” and adding that he wants to tax gas station profits. .
Andre Ventura left this guarantee in statements to journalists before attending a lecture at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal in Lisbon, when he was asked whether he would do the same as the Democratic Alliance coalition (PSD-CDS-PPM), which sent on Tuesday all reports to the macroeconomic framework, which will be presented shortly.
Ventura assured that this table will be presented when the election program is published, which will happen “in the coming days.”
Regarding the proposals that he voiced at the 6th National Congress of Chegi in Viana do Castelo, namely the equalization of the lowest pensions with the national minimum wage, Ventura admitted that “it is a lot of money and no one hides it”, but again insisted that financing would include the introduction of a tax on bank profits, “the fight against corruption and the parallel economy,” as well as the introduction of a tax on gas station profits, which “will amount to 40%.”
Asked how much the measure might cost, Ventura said the party wants to “create it and move forward to be able to study it,” with only an “estimate,” without specifying values.
The Chegi leader also said he would give up his position – “party leader, prime minister, minister” – if he fails to equate the lowest pensions with the national minimum wage.
Andre Ventura was also asked about criticism of the PS secretary general, who accused him of lying by responding that Pedro Nuno Santos “has the track record but not the resume” to be prime minister.
Chegi’s leader believes that Pedro Nuno Santos “is a bad candidate for prime minister, he has no resume, he has no authority as prime minister and every time he speaks he gets worse.”
Ventura also criticized PSD leader Luis Montenegro, saying that there are “two candidates for prime minister who think that they don’t have to win power, power will fall into their hands.”
