André Ventura, leader of Chega, said this Monday that the party is “where it has always been.” He explains that he wants to create an alternative to the PS, but “that the PS must be outside this alternative.”
The Chegi leader wants to work towards understanding and a “stable alternative,” noting that the Azores comes “from a government that will fall” and therefore “it is impossible that the next solution is instability.”
“We are ready for this form of stability, but the decision must be made by the coalition, because what I saw on Sunday was that the AD was almost begging the PS for a majority,” he says.
Andre Ventura says Chega will “never join the Socialist Party” and that he wants to build a right-wing government. However, “the SDP must allow this to happen, and if you don’t want this to happen, then join the PS.”
“This is very interesting. It shows that the two main parties – the PS and the SDP – are ready to come to an agreement to prevent Chegi from ruling,” he said, given that the SDP is “a party that calls itself the center.” -right, but who would rather rule with the PS than with the right party.”
“And there are only two possible majorities: the SDP with Chega or the SDP with the PS,” he fired.
Ventura justified that his party “more than doubled the number of votes, so the Azoreans received a popular mandate, which says that if there is to be a right-wing majority, it must be for Chega”, and once again rejected the parliamentary agreement, demanding a government.
“We have a government that fell because there was no budget, and now they want to promote instability? It’s in the hands of the PSD,” says President Chegi.
