The Liberal Initiative wants to show that Portugal can be changed for the better

The leader of the Liberal Initiative (IL), Rui Rocha, said this Saturday that the party does not claim primacy on election promises and wants to show the Portuguese that the country can be transformed differently and for the better.

In Coimbra, speaking to reporters before the start of the National Council meeting, the leader stressed that IL’s communication regarding the next legislative elections on March 10 is “very much based on the structural vision of the country” and not on the moment.

“Unlike others [partidos]“We are not fighting to win votes through spontaneity, but to win votes for the transformation of Portugal, which is our horizon,” said Rui Rocha.

The director emphasized that IL is “not in the league of promising to throw everything at everyone, but in the league of showing the Portuguese how different and much better the country can be.”

Stressing that the Liberals are committed to structural reforms that prevent youth emigration, low wages and poor public services, Rui Rocha pointed, for example, to a “structural vision” for the health sector based on the best solutions in Europe.

“We have a structural vision for health care because we understand that it is no longer possible to make changes to what we have now, which is in such a bad, degraded situation that we really need to carry out a structural reform, for which I urge the Portuguese to follow our proposals,” he challenged.

The characteristic of IS “is a very different vision from other parties, which is more or less a statist vision of dependence on the state, and we want civil society and strong private initiative to free people and companies to do good.” economic growth in the country.”

For the liberals, the socialist solution in Portugal is not working and the country must change government, “but the country and therefore other statist solutions, often based entirely on buying votes, empty and meaningless, do not work either. solution for the country.”

“We are not in the league of promising to throw everything at everyone, but in the league of showing the Portuguese how the country can be different and much better,” concluded the MP and president of IL.

Analyzing the results of the elections in the Azores, which will be discussed this Saturday in the National Council, Rui Rocha stressed that IS has grown and “strengthened its identity and the conviction that politics must be based on principles, taking the right decisions in the right direction.” moments.”
