In 2023, GNR recorded 1,497 more dating violence crimes than in 2022.

According to data released this Wednesday by the security forces, the Republican National Guard (NGR) recorded 1,497 dating violence crimes among all age groups in 2023, 76 more than the previous year.

In a statement to mark Valentine’s Day this Wednesday, GNR said it recorded 1,497 dating violence crimes across all age groups in its area of ​​responsibility in 2023, adding that 434 victims were in the age group up to 24 years old.

In 2022, there were 1,421 dating violence crimes across all age groups, with 244 victims under the age of 24.

From this Wednesday to Sunday, GNR is developing an awareness and prevention campaign to encourage all young people to report and not accept any form of psychological, emotional, physical, social or sexual abuse.

The campaign also aims to raise awareness about eliminating violence and all forms of aggression in dating relationships, especially among young people, where such behavior occurs early and is easier to avoid in the future.

“It is important to sensitize young people about the importance of healthy relationships based on principles and values ​​such as self-respect, respect and tolerance, which are the basis of dating relationships, promoting an anti-violence culture through awareness-raising,” refers to the GNR.

As such, the custodian will continue to guide and prioritize community policing in schools, as well as educate and raise awareness among youth.

“To change behavior and prevent violence from continuing in the future, through this campaign we intend to raise awareness among young people so that they say no to violence and so that they can stop this type of behavior, both for themselves and for others. “Others”, highlighted in note.

According to GNR, the consequence of this type of violence at an early age can be the acceptance of this violence in the future.

PSP also said this Wednesday that it will launch a “No Dating, It’s War” campaign in schools across the country on Thursday to raise awareness among students about dating violence, which has resulted in 1,363 reports in 2023 in its district. intervention.

The awareness campaign on domestic violence and dating violence, developed by police officers participating in the Safe School program, will run until February 23 and will mainly target 3rd cycle basic and secondary education students aged 13 to 13 years. . 18 years.

In a note published on Valentine’s Day, police advocated the need for early and specialist intervention in these cases of violence, urging victims and their loved ones to “heed the signs” and make complaints to police stations, Safe School Groups (in a school context) or advocacy groups and support for victims.
