Ventura guarantees Chega’s funding is ‘absolutely transparent and legal’

Chegi President Andre Ventura this Sunday rejected any doubts about the party’s funding, saying that “everything is absolutely transparent and legal” and classifying the news on this topic as an “attack”.

“These doubts were discarded without any reason; all Chega’s funding, all its donations are transferred to the Accounting Organization. [e Financiamentos Políticos]”, He said.

Speaking to journalists on the streets of Porto, André Ventura asked him about the investigative report published this Sunday by the newspaper Público, in which Chega’s financiers appear.

Chegi’s leader said that “everything is absolutely transparent and absolutely legal.”

“I hope they do the same with PS and PSD. I will be very careful to see if we receive checks tomorrow from João Rendeiro in PS and from Ricardo Salgado in AD,” he said.

“I hope this happens. Since this will not happen, we know that this is just another attack on Chegu, without any reason,” he accused.

Chega’s president noted that “everyone who wants to support Chega has the opportunity to do so: openly go to its portal and support.”

“We have rich, poor and less poor supporters, we don’t choose, they support us,” he added, saying he was “proud of all our supporters.”

During a street rally in Santa Catarina, held in pouring rain, Andre Ventura was also asked about the statements of the BE coordinator, who on Saturday believed that one aspect of the “right-wing cavalcade” and the “political mutation” of this election is the “rivers of money flowing from the coffers of millionaires” for parties such as “Chega” and “Illinois”.

“I think Mariana Mortagua is the last person who can talk about millions for her parties, since BE are just real estate speculators who run around the party,” he said, believing that the bloc leader “has no morals to talk about Chege or other right-wing parties.”

The party also said that several Chegi leaders and militants are accused of crimes including assault, links to an arms trafficking network, attempted murder, theft or possession of prohibited weapons.

The rally in Porto, which began at 16:00, was the first action of the Chegi caravan on the first day of the official campaign for the legislative elections on March 10.
