Mariana Mortagua calls for the “biggest feminist demonstration” to make “they shall not pass” heard.

The bloc’s coordinator called for a mobilization this Sunday, so that on Friday it would be the “largest feminist demonstration” in Portugal, and that in the face of the threat of conservatism, there would be a “ban imposed” asking for a vote in parliament. legislatures “like women.”

In front of a full house at the biggest BE rally this Sunday of this election campaign, and with her predecessors in leadership Catarina Martins and Francisco Luzan in the front row, Mariana Mortagua gave her longest and most emotional speech, focusing on the women of Portugal, who I wanted to honor the memory and mobilize.

Having received unexpected support from journalist Fernando Alves, who spoke out in support of a left that is “adding left to left” and asked that the voice of the new leader never fade, Mortagua refused to “ignore the obvious” because, as she said, women are under threat.

“From the extreme right bosses to representatives of the SDP, CDU, IL, from conservatives to half-hearted ones, the story is always the same. The first attack is aimed at women, at immigrants, at the poorest. “It’s always on those who work. They start with one and then move on to everyone,” he warned.

Criticizing those who say that “equality is an ideology” and that “it was better before,” the bloc coordinator considered that this is “an excellent reason why next Friday, March 8, the last day of the election campaign, the election campaign will begin” to vote on the largest feminist demonstration this country has ever seen.”

“On Friday, March 8th, this country will hear an impressive “they shall not pass” from women who will cause a sea of joy, and that is what we feel, and then these voices will be heard, and we want the whole country of Portugal to hear them.” “, he asked, hearing a long ovation in the hall.

After reminiscing about women from Portugal such as the communist Maria Lamas, the socialist Maria Barroso, the former prime minister Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo or the journalists Maria Antonia Palla and Maria Antonia Fiadeiro, the blocker said a special word to the women founders of BE. , who called him on stage.

Mortagua then addressed the women “who make Portugal” and left a message: “I ask them all to vote like women, to vote for beauty and solidarity like women.”

The vote that the BE leader asked for in the party was for responsibility, equality, healthcare, schools, kindergartens.

“Vote like women and let’s celebrate democracy next Sunday,” he asked.
