Outgoing Prime Minister António Costa acknowledged this Sunday a “very significant drop” in votes for the Socialists, but does not see “a big increase in AD” compared to 2022.
Regarding the possibility of creating a right-wing government, the party did not want to “interfere” with the decision-making sphere of Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos.
“There is a very strong upswing in Chega. It is important to analyze what is structural and what can be seen due to the atypical situation in which the elections were held,” namely the “judicial doubts” raised by Operation Influential Man, he also emphasized.
AD is leading in the counting of mandates, but the results obtained have not yet brought victory to any party. At 23:00, 63 deputies were elected from AD, 62 from PS, 37 from Chega, four from IL, two from Livre and two from Bloco de Esquerda.
