The road safety campaign “Cinto-me Vivo” recorded 24,753 violations in one week, of which 729 were related to the use of seat belts, helmets and child seats.
According to a report published this Friday by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the Public Security Police (PSP) and the National Republican Guard (GNR), 60,1000 vehicles were personally inspected from April 5 to April 11. while security forces identified 24,753 violations.
During the week of the campaign, 2,543 accidents occurred, resulting in six deaths, 47 serious injuries and 750 minor injuries.
Compared to the same period in 2023, there were 44 fewer accidents, 10 fewer fatalities, nine fewer serious injuries and 54 fewer minor injuries.
According to the report, the six dead, four men and two women, were aged between 46 and 75 years.
Fatal accidents occurred in the districts of Braganca, Porto (two), Castelo Branco and Lisbon.
As part of a national campaign to sensitize drivers and passengers to the importance of always using safety devices correctly, security forces carried out five awareness campaigns with 671 drivers and passengers.
This was the fourth of 12 information and inspection campaigns planned under the National Inspection Plan 2024 (PNF).
Eight more campaigns will be carried out before the end of the year, one per month, with awareness-raising and inspection activities.
Of the four events held this year, 16 events were held, during which more than 1,805 people were personally raised.
As for verification activities, the number of drivers checked personally amounted to 212.2 thousand, and about 13 million vehicles were checked using radar.
