Police authorities have arrested a second suspect for complicity in a robbery with a firearm and abuse of a guarantee card, device or payment data that occurred in Faro in 2022, the Judicial Police (PJ) announced on Tuesday.
An investigation conducted by the Southern Department of the SP led to the identification of a 26-year-old detainee who is “seriously charged with crimes,” the SP said in a statement.
We are talking about facts dating back to December 16, 2022, “when the detainee and other suspects, one of whom was arrested in January of this year, approached a passenger in a car who was preparing to start a march and threatened her with an alleged firearm,” the SP clarified.
The same source stressed that the attackers forced the woman to hand over her personal assets, “including payment cards that they used to purchase services on online platforms,” and that the detained man would still be present at the first interrogation so that no decisions were made possible coercive measures. may be applied.
The suspect’s arrest comes after the SP announced on January 11 that it had arrested one of the alleged culprits who stole payment cards from a woman at gunpoint in Faro under an arrest warrant. .
The SP then reported that the cards were later used to pay for purchases made over the Internet and that the assailants threatened the driver of the car with a gun.
The suspect, who was arrested in January, is 23 years old, has convictions for drug trafficking and highway robbery, and is facing charges for the same crimes as the man who has now been arrested.
The investigation is being carried out by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DIAP) of Faro, with the support of the Southern Directorate of the SP.
