The government warns the administration of Santa Casa that it will commit a crime if it abandons its functions

The Ministry of Labor, in an order sent on Thursday, warned the dismissed administration of Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboa to remain in office under pain of punishment for committing the crime of abandoning public functions.

“For reasons of public interest and the functioning of institutions, it is necessary to explain the interpretation that Council members should remain in day-to-day management,” a ministry source told Luse this Friday, justifying the dispatch of the order. clarification for SCML dated 2 May.

The same source explained that this duty to maintain functions stems from the statute of Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisbon and the constitutional principle of continuity of services of a public nature or purpose.
