Singapore’s Transport Ministry announced on Tuesday it would send investigators to Thailand following an incident on a Singapore Airlines flight between London and Singapore that left one person dead.
A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 flying from London made an emergency landing in the Thai capital on Tuesday after it encountered severe turbulence mid-flight, killing one person and injuring 30 others.
“The Transport Safety Investigations Bureau (TSIB, Singapore) is in contact with its Thai counterpart and will send investigators to Bangkok,” the capital of Thailand, Singapore’s Ministry of Transport said in a statement.
Boeing sent its condolences to the family of the deceased passenger in a post on social network X, in which it also expressed support for the remaining passengers and crew, 228 in total.
Video posted on a messaging platform at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport showed a line of ambulances arriving at the scene.
“Singapore Airlines expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” the airline said in a statement, as quoted by Spanish news agency Europa Press.
“Our priority is to provide all possible assistance to passengers and crew on board,” he added.
The company sent a team to Thailand to provide assistance.
The nationality of the deceased or injured was not disclosed.
